Become an APT Faculty
If you are a Registered/ Chartered Psychologist, APT-Canada invites you to apply to become an APT faculty member.
1. Faculty
As an APT-Canada faculty member you will be invited to offer APT courses in your own organization, community, province or across the country. If you are a dedicated, energetic, well-respected psychologist with a minimum of 5 years experience in your field and you are interested in sharing evidence based practical training with your colleagues, we look forward to hearing from you!
2. Senior faculty
As a senior faculty member you may be invited to run courses outside your own organization. APT pays you a consultant’s fee and any travel expenses for teaching these courses. You are never obliged to accept an invitation to teach outside your own organization – you may simply accept the invitations that match your interests and fit with your schedule. Whether you are invited to teach outside your organization depends predominantly on (a) the demand for the courses in which you are highly experienced (b) the evaluations you’ve received from participants during the courses you have taught. APT faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of teaching and professional demeanor while representing APT.

Faculty Benefits
As an APT faculty member, you must complete a stringent application process and maintain excellent presentation ratings in all course evaluations. As such, to be an APT faculty member is a significant professional accolade. Other benefits include:
For faculty teaching outside of their employing organization:
• Attractive daily compensation rates for all workshops.
• All travel, meal and accommodation expenses.
• Complete course materials including power point presentations, notes, delegate
• workbooks and
evaluation documents.
• Opportunities for travel to teach courses in your province and across the country.
• Opportunities to meet other psychologists involved in training.
• Opportunities to contribute to and be an advocate for psychology and quality mental
• health training.
For faculty teaching within their employing organization (taught during regular work hours):
• Complete all course materials including power point presentations, notes, delegate
• workbooks and
evaluation documents.
• Honorarium.
To be invited to join our faculty you must have received strong references from two specified referees. The reference forms completed by referees are in-depth, objective and have demonstrated a strong correlation with course participant ratings of faculty. As a faculty member of APT, you may (in exchange for your employer paying the prevailing fee) run as many APT courses as you wish, within your own organization. Key points:
• Your employer pays APT only 50% of the standard course price, although the training
• they receive is identical. You therefore save your employer 50% of the cost of the
• course by teaching it during your regular work time.
• It enables you to build your way to promotion to senior faculty. (This requires an
• average of over 6 out of 7 on the course evaluation scales over a minimum of 5 courses.)
