Becoming an APT Tutor or Affiliate
There are substantial advantages to becoming an APT tutor or affiliate, and they are described here. Briefly, if you succeed in becoming a tutor then you can run selected courses within your own organisation and so save half the cost. You may also be invited to run courses outside of your organisation, and receive a fee and expenses for doing so. The courses are pre-written, so you don't need to be able to write a course, but you do need to learn how to present well, hence the School for Tutors.
As an affiliate, you are regarded virtually as a 50:50 partner with APT: you can seek out customers for courses and run them yourself and receive 50% of the price charged to represent your fee and expenses..

The advantages of becoming an APT Tutor:
If you succeed in becoming a tutor then you can run selected courses (the subjects you have knowledge and experience of)within your own organisation and so save half the cost. You may also be invited to run courses outside of your organisation, and receive a fee and expenses for doing so.
The courses are pre-written, so you don't need to be able to write a course, but you do need to learn how to present well, hence the School for Tutors.
The reason that your organisation saves half the cost when you run the course is simply because APT doesn't have to pay a tutor - you are doing it in your paid work time. Your organisation receives exactly the same material as if an outside tutor ran the course: the same workbook, the same evaluation, the same registration for delegates, the same certification and accreditation. If you have the ability to become a tutor, then this is a major asset for your organisation.
Whether or not you are invited to run courses outside your organisation depends on several factors, for example: the demand for the subjects you have expertise in (although the courses are pre-written, tutors must have expertise in the subject they are teaching to handle 'off-piste' questions), how many other tutors are qualified in those subjects, and the feedback you obtain relative to other available tutors.

Q&As
Are there different levels of APT Tutor-Accreditation?
Answer: Yes, as follows:
APT Tutor accredited at Level 1. This is the entry level of accreditation and means that the person named has passed a focused assessment and been accredited as qualified to run certain APT courses with another more senior tutor or, possibly, alone. Although the first level of accreditation, it is a significant accolade and may represent a rung on the ladder.
APT Tutor accredited at Level 2. This is the level of accreditation that one might reasonably aim to achieve, and means that the person named has tutored at least 10 APT courses alone, and has achieved a very high, measured standard, with only occasional 'issues'. This is regarded as a significant achievement.
APT Tutor accredited at Level 3. This is the most senior level of accreditation, and signifies that the person named has tutored more than 100 APT courses to a remarkably high, measured, standard. This is a significant professional accolade.
I've been an APT Tutor for quite a while now - am I doing all I am entitled to do?
Answer: Maybe. The activities you are entitled to do are:
-
Run courses on subjects you have expertise in, in your employing organisation.
-
Have the possibility of being invited to tutor courses outside your organisation, depending on the provisos listed above.
Also, if you have been a tutor for quite a while you may be able to become an APT affiliate. This is a role that doesn't suit everybody, but is an excellent role for those it does suit.
What is an APT Affiliate?
Answer: An Affiliate is someone who is a trusted position and can therefore seek customers for APT training, and receive significant recompense for doing so.
The way it works is:
-
The affiliate contacts APT and orders a course for a customer.
-
The affiliate runs the course in the normal way. That is, APT provides all the workbooks, the Tutor Notes, the course itself, the registration and the certification, as well as billing the customer.
-
APT pays the affiliate 50% of the price paid by the customer. This is to cover your fee, and your travel and any other expenses.
Can my organisation become an APT affiliate?
Answer: Yes, certainly, and it works in exactly the same way as above. In other words, 'an affiliate' may be a person or an organisation. (Although, in just the same way as a person wishing to become an affiliate must have established credibility with APT, so must any organisation wishing to become an affiliate.)
Can I graduate from the School for Tutors as an APT Affiliate?
Answer: Yes you can, although this would be unusual. To do so you would need to do the following:
-
Have an impressive c.v..
-
Notify us that you wished to graduate as an affiliate.
-
Perform exceptionally well at the School for Tutors.
-
Display no factors that would bar you from becoming an affiliate.
-
These are by no means impossible to achieve.
