Assessment, Risk Assessment, and Intervention, in Crisis Situations is an APT-Accredited 3-day crisis counselling training course from one of Canada's leading providers of mental health training. We bring the training to your own organisation, for maximum cost-effectiveness, and up to 15 people can attend. (2-day version and refresher courses are also available.)
This course is designed for people who have predominantly short term contact with clients, either by phone or face to face. Typically those clients will be in or approaching a psychotic episode, suffering with a personality disorder, or so distressed that they may harm themselves or attempt suicide. The key aspects of these disorders are therefore covered, and, in particular, major effective strategies for effective brief intervention. Additionally the principles behind these interventions are covered, to facilitate long term beneficial impact, along with risk assessment in such high stress situations.
You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining APT's Level 1 accreditation, and receive a certificate to this effect. The accreditation gives you access to online resources associated with the course.
Your registration lasts indefinitely, and your accreditation lasts for 3 years and is renewable by sitting an online refresher which also upgrades your accreditation to APT Level 2 if you are successful in the associated online exam.
Your accreditation is given value by the fact of over 100,000 people having attended APT training. See APT accreditation for full details.
Option 1: Bring the course to your organisation:
We bring this course to your own organisation a train a group of 6-15 people for a fixed fee of $6,420 (plus GST/HST, tutor travel and accommodation expenses) for the 3-day course, or $4,590 (plus GST/HST, tutor travel and accommodation expenses) for the 2-day version.

Option 2: 'Train the Trainer':
If you or a colleague are a senior professional (e.g. consultant psychologist) and have a talent for communication and teaching, then you are welcome to apply to become an APT-accredited tutor. You could then tutor the course - or your chosen modules from it - in your own organisation, under license.
This is not only a highly appropriate use of senior professionals, but it also saves your organisation the tutor-component of the fee (around 50%) each time you run it or your chosen modules.
