APT is an international partnership with a leading mental health training organization based in the United Kingdom that has been providing training of the highest quality to professionals for the past 25 years. Our Canadian offices are located in Vancouver and Regina and we are proud to be able to bring APT courses to you, wherever you are in Canada. Our practical courses are grounded in the latest empirically supported research and are delivered by a faculty network of highly experienced psychologists from across the country.

We put together courses that combine theory and practice in a way that is easy to grasp and easy to apply safely. Then we employ experienced and talented professionals to deliver the courses and add their unique input.


Integrated Courses

Importantly, the courses provided by APT mesh with one another. Hence with each course one attends you acquire a genuine development of expertise in staff rather than an unhelpful acquisition of competing ideas.



Offered On-Site - We Bring the Training to You

This means that, in terms of effectiveness, you immediately have a ‘core group’ of staff trained in one approach. Therefore you have a group pulling in one direction and able to encourage each other pulling in that direction.



Fixed Costs – No Extras

You pay a fixed, and very realistic, cost, no matter where you are*, where the faculty has travelled from, where s/he has stayed, or anything else. By having the faculty come to you, you do away with a multitude of travelling and overnight accommodation expenses which have no bearing on staff development.

APT’s training is provided predominantly On Site, meaning we come to you. You provide the teaching room, participants and any refreshments. We provide everything else. This system enables a critical mass of staff to be trained together in a given subject so that your team is operating from a common clinical foundation and can support each other in implementing their training. Course offerings can be arranged to fit in with staff availability, so a three-day course may run from Tuesday to Thursday or perhaps three consecutive Wednesdays.

APT maintains our high standards of quality by continually developing course content and recruiting talented professionals to deliver our courses. Our teaching faculty contribute to the development process which results in continuously maintained quality. We rigorously monitor our quality by obtaining feedback from course participants on the two key scales of relevance and presentation-quality. We also follow-up with participants a few months after the training to assess whether what they learned in the course has ongoing relevance to their work.

In summary, our goal is to make training just as relevant and interesting as we can, with the aim that when professionals attend an APT course they know that their employer has provided them with the highest quality training available.
