The Association for Psychological Therapies is a leading provider of training in Compassion-Focused Therapy. We can bring any of the following CFT courses to your own organisation and train a group of professionals for a fixed all-inclusive fee, no matter where you are. All of the training is accredited by APT and delegates receive the relevant level of APT’s accreditation on completing the course(s) as well as APT's downloadable resources.
A 3-day course.
An exposition on Compassion-Focused Therapy, in a way that enables and encourages delegates to use it in their practice.
Although compassion focused therapy is delivered compassionately, its main focus is to encourage patients to be compassionate towards themselves. This is achieved by (a) specific techniques and approaches we cover on the course and (b) by educating patients about what happens in the brain so they realise that their emotions, behaviours, thoughts and fantasies are not their 'fault', and yet they can take certain actions to make things better for themselves (which we also cover). This is a course for people who do not want to be exclusively “a compassion focused therapist” but DO want to know all about compassion focused therapy in order to build CFT ideas and techniques into their clinical repertoire. It therefore covers both the theory and the skills of CFT in a way they can be applied immediately.
Available to everybody.
This exam is available free of charge to those who have attended the APT course CFT Essentials, and for a fee to those who have attended similar training from another provider.
It is a web based exam with a high pass mark of 85% and gains you Level 2 in APT accreditation of Compassion-Focused Therapy. If you don't pass first time you can review the course material and sit it again.
A 3-day course.
This course is available Onsite (we come to you and deliver it to a group of up to 15 delegates).
This is a course for people who have at least 6 months practice subsequent to receiving Level 3 APT-Accreditation (often much more). In lectures, the masterclass provides more depth on some of the topics in the Essentials course but is mainly focused on developing skill, based around the following components: listening to and making case presentations, watching video demos by others, role-play/real-play where you interview others and they interview you, and establishing a stable system for support and development for yourself in this area post course. The result is that you enhance your skill and technique, not just your knowledge. Successful completion also gains you APT's Level 4 accreditation in the subject.
