'Suicide Awareness' is a half-day course from the Association for Psychological Therapies (APT), a leading provider of accredited courses for professionals working in mental health and related areas in Canada.
It is the only Suicide Awareness training that is Delegate–Accredited and uniquely combines built-in APT Registration with automatic access to our renowned post-course resources to help you support your clients. It is available for both teams and organisations, and can be attended face-to-face or online.

This short course is designed to raise your awareness of the importance of suicide and inform you about some of the key questions. Specifically:
- Why is it important to know about suicide?
- How many people take their own lives?
- What effect does suicide have on friends and family?
- Why do people take their own lives?
- Are there any signs that someone is contemplating suicide?
- If you think someone is contemplating suicide, what can you do about it?
- If you have been affected by someone's suicide, what can you do to help yourself?
- What are the best ways to lead a more rewarding life?
Who should attend:
Professionals who sometimes see people who are at risk of suicide, whether in residential facilities, outpatient facilities or in the community.
Note: the age of the people you see is immaterial, it is a fallacy that it is 'mainly young men' who take their own lives.
Equally on gender, although some people make the point that about three times as many men than women end their own lives in Canada, it is still the case that a substantial number of women do so every year.
What you receive as a result of attending the training:
Each delegate will be registered as having attended the course and receive a certificate to this effect.

Price: $2,015 + GST/HST for a group of up to 15 people (price includes a PDF workbook for every delegate). Extra delegates $180 + GST/HST per person. Option 2: 'Train the Trainer': If you or a colleague are a senior professional (e.g. consultant psychologist) and have a talent for communication and teaching, then you are welcome to apply to become an APT-accredited tutor. You could then tutor the course in your own organization, under license. This is not only a highly appropriate use of senior professionals, but it also saves your organization the tutor-component of the fee each time you run it or your chosen modules (50% of the 'Online Live and Exclusive' fee, regardless of whether the course is held Face-to-Face or Online).
